I am a Professor in the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. I was born in Calcutta and grew up mostly in the city and its vicinity. I went to the US to do my PhD at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey but stayed on for more than 18 years working as a post-doc in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology/Princeton Environmental Institute at Princeton University, a Research Associate in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Duke University and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After that I returned home and joined CAS in December 2013. My research areas are modeling land-atmosphere interactions and renewable energy meteorology. I am a Chief Editor of Earth System Dynamics, a journal of the European Geosciences Union and a co-convenor of Energy Meteorology of the EGU General Assembly.
