Dr. Maithili Sharan is a Professor Emeritus in the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He has been with the Centre since its inception.His research interests are Air Pollution Modelling; Atmospheric boundary layer studies; Mathematical and computational methods; Physiological Fluid Dynamics. Major research and developmental activities have been on the development of analytical/numerical models for air pollution and atmospheric boundary layer studies, specifically in low/weak wind conditions. The contributions have been widely recognised nationally and internationally by several awards and honours. These include S S Bhatnagar prize, Meghnad Saha Award and the Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy, Fellowship of National Academy of Sciences (India), Fellowship of Indian National Academy of Engineering and JC Bose National Fellowship. He has also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (USA).
