Description

"This research focuses on process-oriented evaluation of climate and forecast models to improve Subseasonal-to-Seasonal (S2S) predictions of the Indian Summer Monsoon. The study aims to diagnose how well models represent key physical processes such as monsoon low-pressure systems (LPS), intraseasonal variability (MJO), moisture transport, and moist static energy (MSE) dynamics, which are critical for monsoon predictability. By using high-resolution reanalysis datasets (e.g., IMDAA) and comparing them with model simulations, the research will identify systematic model biases in representing dynamical and thermodynamical processes. The ultimate goal is to enhance forecast skill by improving the representation of these processes, thereby contributing to more reliable extended-range monsoon predictions."
